Who has two thumbs and sweet suntan lines?? This girl!
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably got a behind-the-scenes peek at my lovely weekend down in Scottsdale, Arizona at the fabulous FireSky Resort & Spa. I was lucky enough to attend the TSRI Sizzling Summer Retreat coordinated by Donna & Chad over at The Slow Roasted Italian! I’ve never been to a retreat before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got there. I was completely blown away by the weekend, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
It was a fabulous weekend filled with wine tasting, chef curated menus, spa treatments, and lounging by the pool. It was just about everything that a food blogger could ever ask for!
The best part was spending time hanging out with a group of fabulous food bloggers and connecting over our shared passions of food, photography, and writing. Check out all the awesome bloggers I got to meet: Christie from Love from the Oven, Mary from Barefeet In The Kitchen, Ashlee from Ashlee Marie, Kristen from Six Sisters Stuff, Erica from Favorite Family Recipes, Tessa from Handle the Heat, Alejandra from Always Order Dessert, Sara from Mom Endeavors, and Katerina from Diethood.
I bunked with Katerina and had so much fun staying up late and talking with her about all things bloggy 🙂
The group of us stayed at the FireSky Resort, and I just can’t say enough nice things about their property! The grounds are breathtaking, the Jurlique Spa was heavenly, and their restaurant, Taggia, was divine. The husband sometimes travels to Phoenix for work, so I think from now on I’m going to tag along and
demand suggest that we stay at FireSky.
The first night there we enjoyed a lovely wine tasting and pairing hosted by Entwine Wines. The wine is fabulous, and the wine bottles have suggested food pairings right on the label! Idiot-proof, even for me 🙂
We then took the party over to Rusconi’s American Kitchen, where I got to enjoy an incredibly inspired meal including vanilla-scented potatoes (to-die-for) and a custom-made Chocolate Decadence dessert featuring my new favorite snack, Brownie Brittle. Our meal consisted of several courses, and each was served with a paired wine.
Donna & Chad were smart enough to plan ahead and arrange transportation for our group through Uber. Uber is seriously the best thing ever – essentially it’s like an on-demand private car service, and the prices are totally comparable to a taxi. Whenever we needed a ride throughout the weekend (like, ahem, when I had to go to the mall to buy a new Kindle), we just opened up our Uber app and a car would pick us up within minutes. Life = changed.
To top it all off, we each got to take home some killer swag! I’m completely obsessed with my new nesting liquid measuring cups from OXO, and I can’t believe I ever lived without this handy gadget from KitchenIQ. We also got some completely adorable custom cookies from The Baked Equation, a super handy spatula spoon from Le Creuset, a set of four silicone cutting boards from Casabella, and a boatload of yummy snacks from Fairytale Brownies and Pasta Chips.
The Slow Roasted Italian has tons of fun stuff going on this summer! You can join the fun by using the hashtag #TSRISummer on Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter for a chance to win one of the weekly $50 Amazon gift cards!
