You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t been around much lately.
I’ve been a bit of a ghost, here on the blog but also on social media. Truth be told, I just can’t seem to keep up with all of it anymore.
For the past two years I’ve been “on the road” more than I’ve been “in the kitchen.” I’ve cooked my meals in hostel kitchens, over open campfires, in my French apartment, and even once or twice at my home in Portland.
I never seem to have a decent Wi-Fi connection, and when I do, I find myself lacking the inspiration to create new posts and recipes for the blog.
For many years this site has been the space is where I’ve shared my adventures, both on the road and in the kitchen.
You, my dear readers, have seen me through some tough times. You’ve witnessed so many big moments in my life, both the good and the bad.
Now, I need to ask for one more HUGE virtual-hug as I step into my next big adventure.
SO WHAT’S NEXT?
As I write this, I’m sitting on a train headed Southwest towards the Basque Country. Today is a big day: we’re meeting up with a fellow nomad who is selling us an off-road camper.
I know, I know. A camper hardly qualifies as a “big adventure,” but hear me out.
What’s next for me is this:
I’m going to be living full time out of a truck camper. While driving to Mongolia. For the next year.
I’m selling my house back in Portland as well as nearly all of my possessions on either side of the Atlantic.
The plan is to live a minimalist life. Fewer creature comforts, more open roads.
I want to see the parts unknown, get off the beaten track, get so far into nature that I don’t see another human being or a 4G signal for days on end.
What’s a girl to do when she’s become more “wanderlust” than “kitchen?”
In other words, what do you do with a recipe blog when you no longer write recipes?
I want this site to live on, to keep inspiring people to try recipes from faraway lands, and to encourage others to follow their dreams.
Now I’m excited to announce that I’m handing over the reins.
Let me be the first to introduce you to the wonderful people who I’ve hand-selected to pick up where I left off:
MEET PAUL & LINDA!
A year ago, when I was first coming to terms with the knowledge that I needed to find new loving parents for my little blog baby, I thought I’d never find someone who could take care of it the way I did.
I certainly never thought I’d find TWO someones!
Linda will do the introductions and you’ll see why they are perfect for the job.
Hi, I’m Linda.
I am a married mother of three grown children and Mimi to one grandson, so far! I am a Texan, born and raised.
My husband, Paul, and I have had the awesome pleasure to visit many countries, learn about many cultures and eat some pretty amazing food! We look forward to sharing our travel experiences and recipes with you.
While Paul and I enjoy traveling together, I do most of the cooking and he serves as my CTO, Chief Tasting Officer!
We are looking forward to booking our next trip and finding some new foods to taste. I’ll be sure to share!
As you know, my dream has always been to spread my wings and travel the world. It’s high time I jump into the deep end.
Wish me luck out there!
