Well, we finally broke in the new kitchen last night with our very first dinner party!
I must say, hosting guests in our new space is like a dream come true. My husband’s side of the family came over for dinner, but because we’re all such busy people we didn’t really plan to get together until yesterday morning.
Which left me with just a few hours to put together dinner and dessert for 7 people – a bit of a challenge for someone who is used to cooking for two.
I ran to the grocery store, bought four pounds of chuck roast, and made a stove-top version of my slow cooker Barbacoa Beef recipe.
I cleaned the house (ahem, threw everything into the spare bedrooms and shut the doors), then prepped lots of yummy toppings to make these Chipotle-inspired burrito bowls.
Next, I decided to make salted dark chocolate panna cotta with cinnamon whipped cream for dessert. I think I may have put in a *little* bit too much salt, but everyone must have liked it because the dishes were scraped clean. I’m going to work on the recipe a bit more before I share it with you all.
I’m accepting applications for taste-testers 😉
Ooof! You guys remember how the kitchen looked in the “before” pictures? Great space, great light, but… just not my style.
We did a LOT of work in the kitchen, and now I just love it!
Here are the after pictures of our beautiful new faucet and sink provided by our friends over at Kraus!
I love the size of the sink; especially how easy it is to hide dirty dishes in the extra deep basin.
The faucet is so flexible and easy to use, making easy work of both prep and clean up. I love having the option to use either the pot filler or the spray nozzle!
Everyone seems to want to help with the dishes so they can try out the hand-held spray nozzle – not that I’m complaining!
I can’t wait to show you all the rest of the house, but I need a few more days to clean it up. It’s been pretty bad this week!
I’d love to hear what you think of the changes!
Until next time –
Anetta
Really amazing post 😀 Thank you Anetta
