House Remodel Before and After: The Big Reveal!

The big day is finally here! After 14 weeks of remodeling and 3 weeks of moving in we are settled in the new house and ready to break it in with a big party. Who’s coming over!?

I chronicled our successes and failures in the 8-part House Remodel Series.

I was surprised at how many personal comments I received on that post, most of which were highly supportive. Here on the blog, as well as “in real life,” I’ve had people ask me why I want to change the house that my dad loved so much.

Well, the reason why is because I love it so much. I wanted to give the house some love, replace all the cigarette-smoke damaged fixtures and finishes, and make it into a home that will be loved for another generation.

I’m proud of the work that we put in to this place, and I’m really looking forward to hosting big family holidays in a house that hasn’t seen a party in more than a quarter century.

I had the opportunity to start nearly from scratch and create a home that works for us. Every morning I wake up, look out the window at the beautiful view, and nearly have to pinch myself to believe that this is real life.
