Why am I drinking a vegan smoothie to begin with, right?
Well, for one, I think there are a lot of benefits to enjoying plant-based foods. I love using Silk’s new Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative for this recipe, which has 6g of plant-powered protein (how’s that for a tongue twister?) in each serving.
Silk’s Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative doesn’t have any icky cholesterol, and is made without artificial coloring or flavor.
I’m HUGE on knowing what’s in my food, and I feel good about making this vegan smoothie recipe in the morning.
Secondly, many people I know are vegan, so I like to keep dairy-free alternatives in the house for them.
Lastly, I’m drinking these vegan smoothies because they taste good! It’s not always easy to nail a creamy, delicious flavor with dairy substitutes, but this recipe totally satisfies my cravings.
Some days I don’t have the time or energy to sit down and eat my way through a full breakfast… so I started blending all of it together in a smoothie, instead.
Yeah, that sounds kind of gross, but trust me when I say that it totally works! Here’s what I put in it: Silk’s Original Creamer (that stuff is amazing), a banana, frozen fruit, and one container of Silk’s Dairy Free Yogurt Alternative.
The smoothie comes out creamy and sweet without any dairy! I love that the whole thing (including the yogurt alternative!) is made with real fruit. It’s just the BEST way to start off my day.
On the weekends when the husband and I both go over to the new house, I make these vegan breakfast smoothies for each of us to sip on the drive.
Here I used Silk’s Black Cherry flavor of dairy-free yogurt alternative, along with some frozen blackberries. Other combinations I love are:
Tropical Pineapple + frozen peaches
Strawberry + frozen raspberries
Blueberry + frozen blueberries (I’m a blueberry purist!)
Here’s the Recipe!
- 4 ounces Silk Original Soy Creamer
- 1 (5.3 ounce) container Black Cherry flavor Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative
- 1 large banana
- 1/2 cup frozen blackberries
- Add the ingredients in the order listed to the bowl of a counter top blender. Blend until pureed and smooth. Enjoy!
